A recent sunny afternoon at Hillyfields Meadow. All this habitat, rare unimproved grassland, will be lost if the proposed development goes ahead. Join us to stop this happening! If you have any good pictures of the area why not send them in to us for display.

A couple of weeks after the above pictures were taken Hillyfields Meadow has been mowed (late July), save for a section  towards the rear. Where bees and other insects once buzzed and thrived now there is only silence and stubble. This land is of course under the management of the Homes and Communities Agency. You cannot help wondering whether leaving the cut until autumn would have conserved a lot of this wildlife. A few pictures below:

After July grass cut

After the grass was cut, not much of a habitat for insects & birds now!
